Marie-Jo Lafontaine’s oeuvre, which takes shape at the end of the 70‘s, develops as a result of this postmodern sense of perspective with regard to progress. The evolution of her work runs roughly parallel with the fragmentation of the modernist ideology during the last decade of the 20th century. The crumbling of the great 20th century ideologies is coupled with the fading of the attached utopias.
